This gunmetal bolt action bullet pen is hand-crafted of wood sourced from the stock of a M1 Garand 30-06 military rifle. The M1 Garand or M1 rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was the service rifle of the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. General George S. Patton called the M1 Garand "the greatest battle implement ever devised". Approximately 5.4 million M1 Garand rifles were made during World War II. They were used by every branch of the United States military. It was not until 1965 that the changeover from the M1 Garand to the M14 was fully completed in the active-duty component of the U.S. Army. The M1 Garand remained in service with the Army Reserve, Army National Guard, and the Navy into the early 1970's.
